About the role

An established international engineering company operating in the e-mobility and charging infrastructure space is looking to appoint a Certification Engineer to support the development and certification of DC / HPC charging systems for the German market.

This position sits within a Systems Engineering team and acts as a key interface between engineering, certification and regulatory bodies. The focus of the role is ensuring products meet German regulatory and calibration requirements, with a strong emphasis on processes, standards and documentation.

This is a replacement hire, offering continuity and structured knowledge transfer.

Key responsibilities

  • Ownership of German calibration and certification processes (Eichrecht) for charging infrastructure
  • Coordination of initial certifications and recurring audits
  • Preparation, maintenance, and review of technical and certification documentation
  • Analysis and interpretation of relevant standards and regulations, including ISO 15118 and IEC norms
  • Translation of regulatory requirements into actionable input for engineering teams
  • Support of testing activities and on-site certification requirements
  • Monitoring regulatory and standards changes and assessing product impact

Your background

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (Elektrotechnik) or a comparable technical discipline
  • Experience working with certification, compliance or regulatory processes
  • Practical knowledge of German calibration law (Eichrecht)
  • Experience in e-mobility, EV charging or power electronics is strongly preferred
  • Exposure to DC / HPC charging systems is a plus
  • Familiarity with ISO 15118 and related standards is advantageous
  • Comfortable working in a documentation-heavy, standards-driven environment
  • German language skills at native or C2 level are mandatory
  • Basic English skills required
  • Typically 3-5 years of relevant experience, but strong candidates earlier in their career will be considered

What’s offered

  • A high-impact technical role with clear ownership and responsibility
  • Long-term stability within a well-established engineering organisation
  • Hybrid working model with regular on-site presence due to testing requirements
  • Close collaboration with systems, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams
  • Hands-off management style with a focus on outcomes rather than micromanagement
  • Structured onboarding and knowledge transfer

Additional information

Due to the regulatory nature of this role and close interaction with German authorities and certification bodies, excellent German language skills are essential.
