About the role
An established international engineering company operating in the e-mobility and charging infrastructure space is looking to appoint a Certification Engineer to support the development and certification of DC / HPC charging systems for the German market.
This position sits within a Systems Engineering team and acts as a key interface between engineering, certification and regulatory bodies. The focus of the role is ensuring products meet German regulatory and calibration requirements, with a strong emphasis on processes, standards and documentation.
This is a replacement hire, offering continuity and structured knowledge transfer.
Key responsibilities
- Ownership of German calibration and certification processes (Eichrecht) for charging infrastructure
- Coordination of initial certifications and recurring audits
- Preparation, maintenance, and review of technical and certification documentation
- Analysis and interpretation of relevant standards and regulations, including ISO 15118 and IEC norms
- Translation of regulatory requirements into actionable input for engineering teams
- Support of testing activities and on-site certification requirements
- Monitoring regulatory and standards changes and assessing product impact
Your background
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (Elektrotechnik) or a comparable technical discipline
- Experience working with certification, compliance or regulatory processes
- Practical knowledge of German calibration law (Eichrecht)
- Experience in e-mobility, EV charging or power electronics is strongly preferred
- Exposure to DC / HPC charging systems is a plus
- Familiarity with ISO 15118 and related standards is advantageous
- Comfortable working in a documentation-heavy, standards-driven environment
- German language skills at native or C2 level are mandatory
- Basic English skills required
- Typically 3-5 years of relevant experience, but strong candidates earlier in their career will be considered
